One of the core functions of IIOA is to represent the IIOA members in the key organisations who develop the standards which IIOA members provide assurance against and the organisations who provide the assurance that this work is carried out competently.
This work sees IIOA operating at the heart of organisations such as ISO and IAF and other partners, helping develop the standards, policy and procedures.

EA’s Horizontal Harmonisation Committee (HHC) deals with horizontal technical issues regarding the application of general accreditation requirements on different types of conformity assessment bodies (ISO/IEC 17011 etc), the assessment of notified bodies and the process for sector schemes. The Committee monitors the network sharing of knowledge for EU directives. The terms of reference of the EA HHC can be viewed here.
