APAC Annual Meetings 2025

July 7, 2025

The 2025 Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation Annual Meetings 2025 brought together the APAC members from across the wide geography of its membership. With members from the Americas, Australasia, Asia and into the Middle East, APAC is the most diverse of the IAF and ILAC six regional accreditation groups.

Such diversity means that APAC presents a microcosm of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation’s (ILAC) global membership and through its rich tapestry of language, culture and varied membership provides a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities for accreditation and accredited conformity in the region.

One of the key themes of the APAC Annual Meetings was APAC playing its role in IAF and ILAC, with careful consideration of the evolution of these two organisations into one new future organisation, Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated.

Hosted by Indian accreditation bodies National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies NABCB and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories NABL, the APAC Annual Meetings 2025 covered a wide range of topics, from the strategic to the operational and technical. Strategically, APAC has started the work on the APAC Strategic Plan 2027-2030. Technically, through its two Technical Committees – TC 1: biobanking; calibration; inspection; medical testing; reference materials and TC 2: food safety; management systems; persons, products, processes and services; Halal; sustainability – APAC manages all technical issues with clear links to ILAC and IAF respectively.

Amongst the strategic and technical discussions, key fora address priority topics such as sustainability, AI and communications. The latter enabled IIOA Chief Executive Marcus Long as Joint IAF/IAC Communications Committee Co-Chair the opportunity to learn more about communications activity in the APAC region and to share IAF/ILAC communications activity.

Much of the activity from the APAC meetings will in turn be taken into the next IAF/ILAC Annual meetings, helping contribute to a stronger and more integrated global accreditation system.
